Vitalik Buterin Reprioritizes Ethereum Roadmap Around Quantum Resistance and Privacy
Vitalik Buterin has reordered Ethereum’s development roadmap to put quantum resistance and privacy at the top of the list, according to The Block. The changes are part of what Buterin has called the protocol’s “third major iteration,” dubbed Lean Ethereum, The Block reported.
Quantum safety work moved up the priority queue, while verifiable delay functions (VDFs) and most EVM improvement projects were pushed down the list, according to The Defiant. Ethereum’s earlier design, built around Verkle trees and state expiry, was dropped in favor of other technical constructions, The Defiant reported. Privacy, post-quantum scaling and native rollups did not appear on Ethereum’s 2023 roadmap diagram at all, according to The Defiant.
Decrypt reported that the updated roadmap also elevates AI-assisted formal verification alongside quantum resistance and privacy as central technical goals for the network going forward.

Each figure is this site’s own reading, with what it was measured against. A blank is a reading nobody took, not a zero. The before-the-headline window prints the rate a RANDOM hour clears the same bar, because a hit rate without its null is not a finding.
